Research Note* The Censuses of 1881 and 1891 both show George jnr as grandson of the householder. For him to have the same surname as the householder, he must therefore be the son of a son of the householder.

The 1911 Census shows the householder's wife as having had 6 children, of whom 4 were deceased by time of that census. I currently have no names, sex or dates for 3 of them (the 4th is Elizabeth who had died by that time). Thus there are up to 4 candidates for a father for George jnr.
Scenario 1 - One of the 3 unknown deceased is male, and fathered George jnr.
Scenario 2 - The only currently known male living in 1911, George snr, is the father.

George snr is quoted on both the 1881 and 1891 Censuses as being unmarried. So far, I have been unable to find a marriage for George snr, or a birth or baptismal record for George jnr. This could suggest George jnr was born out of wedlock and the mother was unwilling, or was unable, to take care of George.5
