| Research Note* | | Based on the 1851 Census, I suspect that Mary had been married twice - initially to a Mr Burns (mothering Margaret (3032)), then on the death of her husband marrying again to a Mr Farrens (mothering John (3042) and Mary (3043)). My hypothesis is that Mr Burns died during the potato blight (Margaret having come to Scotland and married George). The Farrens family came over to live with their daughter after John was born, but before Mary was born, Mr Farrens dying between 1842 and 1851. |
